Question What size trailer?

What size open trailer can I safely haul my 2007 Heritage Softail Classic cross country? I'm a traveling nurse and I will be leaving Florida in May to go out west. I need a trailer to haul my bike with me. I've been looking at open 8 foot trailers but wondering will that be big enough? I need something I can load and unload myself as I travel alone. I want something reasonably priced and fairly small as parking space for the trailer may be limited where I'm going. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

How much are you looking to spend?

6x9 would be smallest I would go with

But if space is an issue, look for a used Kendon on Craigslist

There are quite a few single haulers in CL from kendon

I would like to spend $700 - $1,000 or less preferably. I live in Clearwater, FL and have found a few but just not sure about the length.

I would go with at least 12 feet. I like to have the bike fully on the trailer before driving onto the chock. I also suggest a ramp wide enough to put your feet on it if for some reason you stop part way up. I'm sure you don't want to be the latest you tube video.

I have a 5 X 10 drop gate single axle and it works well for my 2010 street glide. It's long enough to feel comfortable getting it on and having room to evaluate where I am before the chock. Would be tough on an 8 foot trailer. Also great to have around for other house hold duty. Also used it on several other bikes, my last HD was a Dyna Low Riider.

I have a small utility trailer, fairly sure it is a 5x8 and I have hauled my Heritage and a few other bikes on it with no issues. Pic of my old Dyna on it.
