From what I understand, just installing a trailer hitch voids your warranty. I don't think it's dangerous as long as you allow for the fact that you are towing something that will affect braking distance and handling in curves.
There is more to it than that...
In EVERY decision you make while riding without one, you will have to make adjustments to that while pulling a trailer. It isn't for everyone. Some may not like having to pay so much attention to their riding habits, although they really should already!
I can't imagine anyone praising the advantages of towing a trailer...it's clearly more dangerous. It elinanates a lot of your ability to swerve to avoid hitt'n something. On the other hand, if you make it you'll easily make friends if ur will'n to share the benefits. Framkly we'll do our best to quickly change and not let u c my unit and not tie myself to a trailer.
From the replies I have read it seems like maybe you should ask your mommy for permission before you do anything. I pull a IN-LINE trailer and have had no problems what so ever. Even rode the (GASP) Dragon. This trailer tracks right behind the bike and weighs 80#, with a 100 # load limit. Pulling behind the Tri-Glide would be a piece of cake. And yes the book says towing will void your warranty but I know of several riders that have their warranty work done at the local dealership, no questions asked about the hitch.

Some people have no business towing a trailer with any kind of vehicle due to experience level. That being said I have a trailer that I towed with my '07 Ultra to many places, even as far as Sturgis last year from western NY and back. I do have some experience towing since I've been driving an 18 wheeler for almost 30 yrs. the key things to remember is increase following distance, braking distance, lane changing, etc, etc. be conscious that your trailer is wider than your bike, and I would suggest some kind os swivel hitch as well. The hitch will improve greatly cornering and maneuvering plus as an added benefit will eliminate any possible tongue or hitch damage just in case you happen to drop your bike while hooked to your trailer.
