Icon makes a denim riding pant called "Barrier" jeans. They're triple lined -a windproof lining, a flannel lining for warmth and the heavy outer denim material - plus they have an abrasion resistant panel sewn into the knee area. They're surprisingly effective down into the low 30s with no long-johns under them. If you wear long johns you can go down into the 20's temps. I wear these denim riding pants daily and swear by them. They're cut for the riding position, comfortable for all-day wear and very well made.
i ride over 100 miles everyday, the 2 coldest days this year were 6 degrees, and 9 degrees. ADD 80-90 mph and brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. i like to wear a pair of fleece lined jeans over my work pants, and a insulated shirt over my work shirt, with a lined FXRG jacket.
