Haven't noticed it being done in Florida. Can't think of any logic to it.

Maybe they have an earpiece for a hands free cellphone so with the engine off they can make that all important quick phone call.

It's cause their pipes are too loud and it hurts their ears! Not to mention that they are embarassed when their grandma pulls up next to them and has to roll her window up.[8D]

When moving, its not so bad.

hell i see this EVERYWHERE, i dont how anyone has been to a bike run and not seen it light to light when a million bikes are on the road.

In vegas alot of guys do it. Hell even sportbikes do it... ut gets HOT

I don't know, do you think shutting the bike off for a minute at a traffic light is going to do anything to cool it. What ever little cooling is done is wasted when you start the bike back up if not made even hotter, especially on carb models.

If you want the bike to cool down, pull off the road, get a cup of coffee or something and let it cool. Shutting her down and starting her up at a traffic light will do nothing but wear out the starter faster.

The cops in vegas do it, I figured it must be heat issue but every cop i have ever pulled up to at a light shuts it down.
