Default Harley Drain Plug Magnets

Your Harley drain plug magnets are worthless . A simple test next time you have them out put one down on your bench and use what ever wrench you have and try too pick one up. Heat is a magnets enemy Harleys run hot right. So check out cycle solutions .com they have magnetic plugs that really work a bit $$$ but worth it, especially on a new ride. You wont believe all the powderd metal they pull out. Wait and see what you pull out of your primary.

Moved over to the dark side traded my 06 Street Glide for a 2012 Road Glide still all stock need $$$ for up grades.

After 100,000 on one bike, and 250,000 on the other, I've seen the error of my ways.
What the hell was I thinking?
If you believe in it, more power and all that.

+1 here. When I stopped using H-D primary fluid I stopped seeing so much on the magnet.

My old air cooled VW has a magnet on the drain plug. After 42 years it is still plenty strong. I did not know that there was one in the HD, but it is not a replacement for a oil filter like they thought it was with the VW's.

My bike was equipped with one of those new fangeled "oil filters" ,that removes nuts ,bolts, barnacles, beer cans, and any normal amounts of metal shavings that the motor should shed.,,

Heat is definately the enemy of magnetism, BUT the curie point that affects the magnetism is about 1000 degrees so your heat theory is pretty lame. If your bike ever ran that hot, you got bigger problems than metal particles in the oil.
