I decided to start collecting a few days ago with the same idea...a $1 chip ic cheaper then a $30 shirt. Ordered a frame to keep them in, it should be coming today
Dip dots are little metal tags that some dealerships stick on the dipstick (hence the name) of the new bikes they sell.
Much like car dealers put on the back of new cars they sell.
they are way old, somebody found a way to make a buck out of the free adverts........yeah they are cheaper than a t-shirt; but it's still hosing the people IMHO
$2.00 n change where I'm at
I've got 9 chips so far. I think they're pretty cool, but I haven't seen them everywhere. Seems like they are popular in the midwest, but not down here in the Southwest. Maybe I'm just not seeing them. I usually don't ask about them, just pick one up if I see them.
i think they are kinda cool. i mean why not, like some say its cheaper than t-shirts and they look good in their frame. we almost have the small frame filled up with the last year and a half of riding we've done. just need four more chips. after all it's the memory's that count
We use them as a drinking game strategy! When playing spoons, the card game,we use HD poker chips instead of spoons! ITs funnier because the chips are smaller and dont make alot of noise!. if anyone has ever played spoons knows that this can be an advantage!!!
Anyone interested in trading some chips? I have some Biloxi pensacola st augustine daytona tallahassee mobile dealer chips. shoot me a pm if interested!

Nor sure if it helps, but I just got one yesterday at the Harley apparel store in tombstone, az. I had actually never seen any here in the midwest, which is why I thought it was cool and bought one.
Only thing I collect any more is miles. I do have some of the Harley chips though. When I'm on tour and stop at a shop I usually will give the girls in the Motorclothes dept a tour t shirt. Sometimes they will throw together a little bag of swag and give it to me before I walk out the door and almost always, there is a chip in it.
The chips are a good idea I Think. I the dealer I go to mostly the will cost you 2 bucks. A dollar for the chip and a dollar towards Wreathes Across America. I have been thinking about collecting them. Problem is, every time I go to a different dealer, I forget. Kinda strange too because I made one of my chips int a key ring for the bike. I must be getting old.
