I've had my gas cap hanger for a while now and it works great. Have not had any problems with it. If I had one sooner I wouldn't be on my 2nd. gas cap due to scratches on the 1st. Would recommend them.
just so some folks know, if you have not been following the other thread on these in the Gear for sale forum area, i had a rush on them and ran out 2 weeks ago, but I got new stock in for the Gas Cap Hangers, and all orders placed within the last 2 weeks went out on Tuesday.
There's a market out there for everything! 35 years and I can honestly say I have never lost or rode off without my gas cap. My luck, I'd get one of these, hang it on a cable, forget it and a few minutes later it would ruin some paint or chrome as it flies through the air leaving me capless for the first time in my riding life. (gas caps, not ball caps) I usually gas up with the cap in my left hand and the hose in my right, figure that's why I have two hands. Do you guys find it necessary to have both hands on the pump at all times? Oh ****! Is that in the manual and I've ben doing it wrong all these years. Hey! Maybe I'm super talented because on my shovel I can handle BOTH gas caps and fill up, all without losing or scratching a cap.

The gas pumps out here in Cali have a return hose (EPA) that returns the fumes into the underground storage tanks with the gas. You may not believe this but it does take two hands to fill it. You can either shove the noozle down your tank and leave with 3/4's everytime or you can hold the stupid return seal up with your left hand so you can fill your tank to the top.
As to the original product, I have had one on my Springer for a couple of years and I think it is handy as hell. There is no issue at all with the hook getting stuck or anything. I gave one to my brother and he likes it as well.
