Yep,I've seen it too. At Gator Hd in Leesburg they had a 13 CVO Ultra for almost 42k. It was the non anniversary model too. A salesman asked if I was interested while he caught me looking at the bike, then the price. I politely told him "no,but I'm sure that you'll find some idiot to pay 4 or 5 grand over MSRP".
$6K over sticker price is rediculous. I was shopping for a bike about ten years ago and every dealer in the Kansas City area was over MSRP saying that the Moco couldn't keep production up with demand. I ended up going 75 miles north and found a dealer with a great selection and willingness to negotiate from invoice rather than MSRP. I know he made a little money on that purchase, but he's made a lot more from me on little things that I've bought through the years, including two more bikes.
Just shop around.

I know of one dealer who does the same thing, but only with the CVO models. A saleman I know told me the owner figured he could only get a few and he liked keeping them on the floor for display for awhile. If they sold for the inflated price then he was way ahead and if they didn't then he had them for display and could always lower the price later. Your dealer may being doing the same thing. Who knows, could be some type of MOCO logic.
There are 3 dealerships in a 50 mile radius from me. One will gouge you a little, but if they have the bike you really want and you hang in there, you can get a deal you can live with...one ALWAYS charges at least 1 to 2K over MSRP and cries like a baby that they're STILL not making any money...the other one is always MSRP and under and everything is negotiable.
Guess who gets all my business?
