Just a heads up, If you buy a PC with Vista and McAfee and you run any p2p apps, you can forget it. You willhave to completely uninstall McAfee to get anything of that nature to work.

I've been messing around with Vista some since it's been out, I work in IT so I get my hands on software all the time. I found a lot of different software and hardware that doesn't play well with it. Companies will come out with new drivers and patches that will correct these issues but it will take some time just as any new release of an OS usually does. I would wait to get Vista for at least six months if I were a consumer, but that is just my opinion.

Kinda like waiting a year to buy a TC-96 Harley! You might want to give them some time to work out the bugs. Buying the first production of anything has risks considering the first "real users" of any product in the "real world" are the consumers. You can test all you want in the lab, but no body is better at testing products than a good old blue collar American worker. Let's let them suckers put it through the ringer, then if it survives, we'll make a fortune, If not, it's back to the drawing board, or in Microsofts world, the develop a patch for the patch for the patch board.

..........if you want to just use your computer for what ever reason you got it for, buy a Mac

Windows = [sm=pcwhack.gif]
If all I did was cruise the web and send email, I'd consider trying a Mac, but the primaryapps I use are not available for the Mac.

For now, I'll stick with my stable XP and Win2K installations.

How about moving this thread to the "Off Topic" section where it belongs?

Symantec now has a compatible Anti-Virus for Vista. For MSN problems you might have to turn off Protected Mode in IE7. I am not sure when the MSN problem happens but in some cases Protected Mode blocks so much that things just don't work and it won't tell you why. We use Oracle at work and the web based front end does not run unless I turn off Protected Mode. Install Anti-Virus first.

Vista is not done yet. It is Microsoft beta testing in the marketplace again. I would wait 6 months if I could. I had to upgrade my office PC to Vista. I haven't put it on my Notebook PC yet and I won't for a while.

I've tried all that portect off uninstall everything I could find on the web on what to do. Nothing seems to work. I'm using my old ie 6 but that's very limited. I'm sure Vista will have a sp1 and etc. I can always reinstall xp pro but I wanted the vista premium home for 64 bits which I didn't even get. Right now there's no reason for anyone to move to vista. Sure there are some that will say you should of waited but you know it could of been ok.
However Miscroft really screw this one up and they had 5 years in the making.
