Gas leaking

Hi folks, well I had my first wipeout on the bike yesterday, broken toe (need to get riding boots,cant ride in shoes), abrasions & the bike is fine, thank God for engine guards. My question is gas was pouring out of the bike when it was down, didnt seem to be coming from gas cap,no hoses seemed to be off, is gas supposed to leak like that I would of thought it would be all sealed up. is it a carb'ed bike or efi?

Check the crankcase, it may now have gas in it.
