I had a friend of my children take a credit card bill and the checks that come with them. They ran up $17,000 before I found out about it. The police nor the cc company would conduct an investigation. I even obtained the names of witnesses to the charges, copies of the cancelled checks, the name and address of the lowlife and his past bad acts.
The crime was not big enough to pursue. Lesson learned-keep the crimes small and benefit.
A year latter the fraud unit of the cc company called me to verify $5,000 purchase of GPS equipent on line. This was from a cc I had not used in about 2 years.
Just recently a card I used in Calif once, at a restaurant, was used a couple weeks later a Walmart. I guess the server did not like the tip.
The one card I use online has never had a problem.
Ever seen those little advertisements at the bottom of this forum or immediately above "fast reply?" Stupid me clicked on the one about the dyna rider essentials kit. Signed up for the wine and seattle coffee and realized this was going to never end. Anyway I had 5 fradulent hits on my card this month as a result of that. You would think HD Forums would do a little better job in policing their advertisers.
I believe this is the correct link for all three reporting agencies . CLICK HERE
It looks to be free once per year for all three .
I checked all three of mine free last year ( a new law I believe ) .
I found some minor issues with sloppy bank paperwork , contacted them and they fixed it ( the bank).
I believe you can tell your card company to not send checks ( I want to do this ) , I never felt good about checks going thru the mail system .
I get a possible fraud call from my card company maybe 1 or 2 times a year for the dumbest thing .
Never any fraud they just don't know how my wife shops .
The times I think they should call $$ purchase , not a peep , go figure .
Yeah...You would think that HOG would have done a little better job to protect their members...Not. With all the encryption technology out there you'd of thought......Naw, probably a corporate thing. They got your money...You know you wanna belong....So.....Take what we have and quit your whining.....Love that sorta corporate mentality. And if we screw up...Oh, it's unfortunate that this happened, and we'll offer a free credit monitoring service....No compensation for your time...Sheeet...They could at least throw in a Lifetime Membership.....Hah...No such luck.
Gonna call the three credit bureaus tomorrow....Just in case....
My purpose in posting this was that the information has surfaced....Again. And the thieves are making actual credit cards withyour account number on them. Be vigilant or call your credit card company and have them re-issue a card with a new account number.
I totally agree with HC. I have never checked mine untill about a year ago someone called my moms house looking for "their daughter", when she said which one they said Drew Jones. To make a long story short my dick head x husbands illegal mexi-ho was using my name and so on ( Her name is Drew)to get credit and loans at these small loan places. I found several things on my name that I had no idea they were there. Luckily, they did pay them off which was odd but I guess they figured I would lock her **** up if I found out. Already locked x up about 25 times for non support and they know I will do it again. I did call the loan place that called that they better get that crap situated or I would sue them for giving a loan with out checking the person out. I never heard from them again and it was removed off my credit. I now check it about every 6-12 months or so.

I think legally Equifax has to give you two free credit reports a year... or something like that. Just call Equifax and tell them you want to put a Fraud Alert on your account. They will send you a thing in the mail with a phone number to call that will let you get a free credit report.
Or go to their website and pay the $9.95 for your report.
