I did the HD LED taillight and run/turn/brake lights which are plug and play--no load equalizer required. It is the first mod I do on my bikes. With the traffic in the DC area, I am not interested in being rearended at a stopsign.
Look at the difference they make. (The LEDs are MUCH brighter, even though they are further away.)
I just added them to my bike a few weeks ago. I got them from Custom Dynamics and I'm really pleased. They're bright as hell too. The guys there really helped me with them too. A top notch company with great customer service.
Pop off the lens, take out the bulb. Put in the LEDs, turn them to set them in place, put the lens back on. That's all.
do you have any pictures of your taillight? Thinking about doing the same thing.
I'm pretty sure Custom Dynamics is the consensus here. I have more than the four turn siggys from them. I also have a LED "flex" strip under my fender. But the four siggies cost me about $170 total, including the 5 buck CANBUS adapter I needed for my bike, and 2nd day shipping I chose.
Well worth it. Install was plug and play, just like you plug in a regular bulb. Except I needed to do a five minute job of tapping the CANBUS adapter in. That is explained by their top notch tech, Kevin.
I have a BAL-1 on my 02 FXD and today it literally saved my butt. A quick stop behind a car, about 10 ft., and the next thing I heard was big mud tires skidding on the pavement, while escaping my lane I heard a big bang when another pickup rear end the one sliding up on me. Cover your brakes while in heavy traffic with this light.
I have the CD on the front (Radiantz Ringz), CD rear turns, and a BAL2.
It's crazy that the bikes don't come with LEDs these days--they are so much better than incandescent. I even have an LED headlight. Daytime visibility is 3X easy.
