Default Oval shaped half helmets

Just purchased and received my very first, 2013 iron 883. Running on straight adrenaline atm.

I was in this amazing motorcycle shop that sold pretty much anything, and the service was impeccable.

I had a general idea of the type of helmet I wanted, through revzella, jp cycles, etc.. And found a style that was really excited about.

The sales person set me straight as soon as I walked in that door, like I had the look of I knew exactly what I was doing. My wife laughed her *** off.

Long story short, he told me about his head shape and that only a few helmets are made for a oval shape. Turned out that I had the exact shaped head as him, and he pointed me in the right direction. I was super impressed. After I was wondering is there a list of helmets that meet this criteria of helmet or is it the experience of the sales rep.

In this thread I would like to see a comprised list of helmets for the ones who are against the toad stools heads, who hate the pinched fore heads, and just want a fuking helmet that fits . Revzella briefly talks about the oval shaped helmets but does not have a subsection that categorizes these types of helmets.

The helmet that fit ( I didn't have time to try them all on ) was the Zeus ZS-009. Never even seen this helmet online and it was only $70.

I know a few guys that don't wear the bucket helmet because it looks like a giant mushroom on there head, but with the proper fit we can enjoy the road again.

Well homework or not I have the dreaded long oval head. Arai makes one that fits but it's a full face and I'm looking for 1/2 and 3/4. I've heard Davida makes one and I hope to find one at Americade or Sturgis.

I've been using a half round rasp to shape my helmets for 46 years. It only takes two years to blow all the foam flakes out. That really sucks.

I wear a non-DOT half helmet. If I do wear a DOT helmet, it is the one I beat the forehead area IN....using a rubber mallet. I did it so my forehead would not be pressed, and then once I remove the helmet I sit at dinner with a red patch on my noggin. So,
the DOT heltmet is NOT DOT....because the styrofoam is smashed flat by my mallet. (still has the sticker though! LOL) Hell...I could cut the styrofoam out and still have the sticker!

Arai Signet Q is a full face long oval helmet. I like it a lot but I would love to get a half helmet that's of the same shape. I'm tempted to "alter" the shape of half helmets myself.

I taught high speed driver training for years, and have worn a LOT of automotive helmets. When advising students on helmets, I talked about the oval heads vs. the bowling ball heads. Bell for bowling ***** and Arai for oval heads. When getting back into road bikes, it took forever and several mistakes before I found a helmet for my oval head at Cycle Gear. Wearing a helmet designed for the wrong head shape is really painful. Glad you found a fit.
