Intermountain MDA Ride
So, this weekend was the big MDA ride in Salt Lake City. My OL and I did it and had a blast! As usual there's always that guy that's riding a little too close and swerving a little too much but they were easy enough to get away with.
This year they did things a little different and have some people's panties in a bunch. In the past, the ride goes out to Wendover, NV so people can gamble and stay overnight. I guess the Wendover folks decided this year they didn't want to give discounted hotel rooms, etc. during primetime.
So instead, they did their take on a little poker run. There were five rides in the mountains of northern Utah. They gave us a little packet of tickets and for every destination we hit we entered for a prize. We only hit four out of five (ran out of time damnit!) In my opinion, this riding was way more fun than the Wendover ride! Going through the twisties in the mountains was so much more fun than just drag racing the straight road to Wendover!
In the afternoon they had a car show and the police did a little course competition. It ended with a concert at the dealer. We had a blast and got to sleep in our own bed at the end of the day! Didn't win anything though.
So, people around here are b!tching saying that they are boycotting the ride, etc. Does it really matter? I mean, we're doing this for kids for Christ Sake! I say "good riddance" Wendover. I can ride out there any day to drink and gamble.
