I think American Iron is going to run a series of articles on these tuners. Hopefully they will do the Power Vision next. This ThunderMax really looks good and I think might even help a stock bike.

I have Thundermax on my 2012 SG with Rinehart X-treme True Duals and 4" slip ons, SE Breather. I recently sent Thundermax some data from the ECM and they pointed out a couple things for me to do and the bike is SCREAMING now. Very responsive and running strong. Not difficult making the adjustments. Even lowered my idle using the laptop. I highly recommend this piece of equipment.

The reason I bought it was to eliminate the Dynotune process. Next step is install a set of Woods 555 cams and I won't need a Dynotune. Just find a close map and ride. The unit is expensive but the cost of 2 Dynotunes will pay for the price of the Thundermax. Your bike will thank you.

See the October issue of American Iron for a review of the DynoJet PowerVision. Excellent write up again!

It was a real eye opener about tuners. If your tuner does not eliminate all together or replace the narrow band with a wide band O2 sensor, You are still running in the range of the stock O2 sensors 14.6 range.

My understanding is that lowering the idle can be dangerous due to the fact that the engine may go into oil starvation at a lower than factory idle.

Anyone?

low idle serves to increase wear for several reasons. low or wavering oil pressure, decreased cooling, and wear on moving parts and mounts result.

I wanted follow up a little bit on my thundermax.
Recently, while riding all of my engine warning lights came on. I pulled over shut it down and let it set for a few and started it back up. everything seemed fine. A few days later, it started backfiring, when I would start it up. Then it would almost sound like the motor would try to kick over backwards, as if the timing was way off.

I decided my map must of gotten corrupted, when all the engine warning lights came on.
So, I emailed thundermax from their support page waited a couple of weeks, no reply.
So, I called them on the phone. The guy more or less told me it was my fault for not getting a reply because I did not get an immediate reply. The techs had never gotten my email.
The guy told me to email them back and use the support part of the software. He was little rude about it. long story short, told him I did not really care what their reasons were, I did my part my unit was under warranty still, and needed to know the mapp number to start over.
After arguing with the guy for a bit, I got to talk to a tech, he gave me the mapp number.
I got everything updated new mapp installed and it runs awesome again.
When I got the unit, zippers customer service was great, now it does not really suck but less than desirable.

Wow! That kinda sucks the big one. I sure hope this was just someone on the phone with you that was having a bad day or maybe a bitchy wife. Support after the sale is really key to these devices and I hope this isnt indicative of Zipper's support to their customer base. There ARE alternatives to their product.

That right there is why I don't **** with tuners.

Is the few HP really worth whatever damage may have happened to your bike when it was firing on the wrong timing???

I see guys post threads about how the damned FuelPack left them stranded and I wonder why on earth they would put a cheaply made part like that on such a nice motorcycle (just as an example).

I'm not saying that tuners are dumb, just that they are an added vector for failure and often they require support from the company that made them (unlike a carb which you can take to damn near anyone).

I would go ballistic if I waited two weeks for an email reply and then was treated rudely.

**** that.
