Went to the dealership to buy some and then looked at the price!! $30 for 2 black caps!!! I need 4 of them. I refuse to pay that. Anyone have any alternative ideas?
buy them, they work perfect, look great when the tourpack is not there, expensive, yes, but so is everything else on these bikes. the magnets are very strong, never lost one, I guess they could get stolen. but its just easy to do, you'll spend more time and effort to save a couple bucks, and they won't look as nice or work any better. pretend they are for your girlfriend/wife, we give them ridiculously expensive things, just to make them smile, SMILE!!
I think the chrome ones were a little cheaper than that but I don't remember, I know, you need the black
Go to the hardware store and get some rubber table and chair end caps. They use them on the ends of old fashion metal table legs and chairs. Found some black ones at Menards. Only 1.50 for a 4pack.
The caps saved one of the bolts from falling onto the highway. It would rattle loose on my way to work (102 miles) with tour pack on, even with blue locktite. The cap held the washer and bolt to the magnet. (2 times). I since added red and it does not vibrate loose any more.

I have both a detachable back rest and bags on my Fatboy Lo.
I ride 95% of the time without them on and would love to cover up the bolts.
From what I recall, HD doesn't make longer ones to cover up the bolts, just the standard ones for one accessory.
Has anyone covered up theirs with the longer 2 attachment docks?
What did you use?
Any photos?
Thanks!
