Considering the increased danger of crashes when riding in the rain I would never wear anything but leather. If your worried about getting wet in the rain stay in doors.
I wear chaps to keep warm but in the rain I want rain suit pants. My seat seems to collect water and more than once I've found myself riding down the highway sitting in a puddle. it's not a good feeling.
That sounds terrible. My boots do that. They have a zipper on the side and it lets the water come in and just fill up my boot... seemed like a good idea when I bought them... not so much. Even if I don't bring my entire rain suit on a ride I make sure to never leave home without my boot rain covers.
Looking for recommendations on chaps or rain pants. Something cheapish, less than $100. Spent some time riding in the rain this weekend, and was thinking how nice it would be to have something other than jeans on my shins, as this was the only part of my body that was uncomfortably wet. I'd like to have something in my saddlebags for when I'm out somewhere and have to ride home in the rain.
Chaps are worthless. They don't protect the areas that need protection or keep the areas warm you need to keep warm to prevent lowered core temperature. Beside that they look ridiculous.
There are a lot of makers of good overpants with removable liners and armor if you are actually looking for riding gear that is what you want. If it is a fashion thing get something with fringe and do dads on them you will look cool.

Watch where those plastic rain suits sit against your pipes. The better ones have a pad on the inside of the legs that doesn't melt if it hits your pipes. I bought a jacket/pants set for about $50 or so and it does the job just fine. Velcro in all the right spots to keep the rain out too.
