Default Frame Decals

Hey everyone, I recently purchased the bike I have always wanted, a 2003 Heritage Softail 100th anniversary edition. The bike was in immaculate condition, with just about everything chrome, and only 9000 miles. I had it shipped from South Carolina to Illinois. When the driver dropped it off, everything looked good, so I signed off on it. Later on I noticed the two decals on each side of the frame had been messed up by the tie downs. I have managed to smooth them out fairly well but it is still something that bothers me. I contacted Harley and they do not provide replacements. My question is, do I leave them on, slightly messed up? Or just take them off? Is this something that affects the bikes value?

If I had to guess, I'd say it would affect the value more if they were missing than if they were "wrinkled".

Thats what is disappointing to me. Id rather have had something else that is replaceable get messed up. I would make an insurance claim, but I don't know how anyone could judge their value.

Have you talked to that shipping company? Signed off or not they are still the ones that screwed them up. Call them, they may be able to help.

I'll bet you a dollar to a dog turd those decals can be found somewhere.

If they're the decals that have the VIN number/mfg. date and the emissions compliance information, you might have trouble down the road registering the bike if they were missing. Then again, I'm not a lawyer, so what do I know?

I remove mine when I PC'd the frame and never worried about them again.

since you live withing 45 min of 3 halrey dealers I would call them and see if they are nessasary at all. if its just the vin number on there it shouldn't be a big deal since the frame is stamped with the vin

As long as the title matches the number on the frame your ok.

If it Doesn't you have a big problem.

Personally I take all the stickers OFF, I dont want anyone having easy access

to the VIN #.

Peeled mine off day one on all six bikes (4 of them HD) I have owned. I have never had a problem registering them later.

The VIN is stamped on the frame itself too, no?
