Yesterday the dealer told me to clean often my motorbike, and pay attentions to the products I use.
Tomorrow I will buy some H-D products, now I am wondering how do you clean your motorbike and why he told me these things? Was just a trick to sell more of its products?
Dareius, the easy way isto spray the bike with Muc-Off Cleaner, after a minute or so wash off. Dry with a soft cloth if you like or ride dry. It's a10 minute job and probably the best stuff around (in the UK at least). For winter protection against road salt, spray with S100 anti-rust protection. Both these products should be available in Italy.
It's a good idea to polish up the bike every now again - the frequency is up to you, how much time do you want to spend polishing / cleaning? How new do you want you bike to look in the future?
i use regular mild carwash soap and it works fine. just wipe off fast in hot weather to avoid those ugly water marks. and dont ever use engine degreaser or cleaners that **** tears powdercoats and chrome up!
I don't clean mine at all...you see I'm a RUB so I trade mine in when it gets dirty...if I get caught behind a truck and my bike gets soiled before ithas less than the usual 200 trade-in miles......I just ride it through the car wash.....but if you do this you need to make sure you stay in 1st gear only...
Car wash at a safe distance, followed by spot free rinse. Towel dry, ride home, and wax every couple of weeks. I use Kiwi black paste shoe polish on the bags. Whatever leather dressing I have on the seat. Nevr dull on all unpainted/chrome surfaces. That's about it.
I wash with Turtle Zipwax car wash concentrate. One film canister (about 1 oz.) to a gallon of water. Dry with fake chamois cloth. Every once in a while I wax the paint and chrome with Turtle Wax. I use Simple Green on the black engine parts and cylinder cooling fins(Low Rider).
I use a little windex on the mirrors.
Actually, unless I've done a long roadtrip I seldom use soap and water. I'm partial to hondaline spray cleaner and I use it on my car as well..you can get it cheap online if you try google or Ebay.
I clean my 'motorbike' VERY CAREFULLY with soft cloth, alot of love and 6 of my favorite cool-and-refreshing beverages (beer). Good luck and it is okay to just visit your local auto parts store.
