your right , it is nice to keep the group together but I'm not gonna try and argue with a truck about right of way with a truck.

I never felt more free, than a few weeks ago going through a small town in the UP on Route 2. I caught up to a large group of riders and we stopped at a light. They were all in the right lane (4lane). I pulled up next to them and I roared away from them, just me and my wife, free as birds.

The thought of trying to keep 30 other riders happy was not appealing. Felt great to be alone. Must be getting old.

Ride your own ride is the best advice I ever got. Hard to do in a group.

Last year a good friend of mine lead a group of us up to a stop to take a left turn. He stops, looks and takes his left turn. I am #3 in the group. #2 starts to pull out with #1 and then screeches to a stop and I am forced to do the same, just as a truck almost takes out the lead bike. In his defense it is a tough corner, and one I just avoid in general because you can not see more than a few feet ad it is not a 4 way stop. We still give him crap about trying to get us all killed though. The rule is, you are in charge of your safety. Always.

I dont ride with a regular group either but what OP did sounds right. Pulling out in 2's makes more sense for some reason.

It's the lead riders job to "try" to keep the group together, without endangering anyone.
The smarter move as lead rider, would be to wait and then motion the cross traffic through, and then proceed as a group when everyone can cross safely as a group.

Just my 2˘

For what it's worth,I'd of stopped too. If there were no other traffic I might of rolled on thru, but there was a truck there so STOPPING is mandatory. Like Sidecar Bob said, who am I to argue with a truck while on a motorcycle?

If there's only 4 bikes, it's the lead riders fault if you get split up.

I guess you just have followed them straight through when they took off, so you should have if it was that big of a deal to you?
You were after all stopped with them, correct?

Had you stayed close with them and stopped when they did.
I don't see the big deal. I really doubt anyone else would either.
I mean would you?
It might upset someone to have to be put out for another 5 seconds, but I doubt it.
Then again, you could have also gotten a ticket.
