I have a small dent in my '06 Fatboy tank (EFI), so I bought an '05 Fatboy tank on eBay which looks like it has never been on the bike. I thought I got off pretty easy, since I paid less for this tank than it would have cost to get my old one fixed and it matches my old tank perfectly. When I went to swap the tanks out however, I discovered that the '05 tank does not have the bracket welded into the bottom center of the tank to hold the fuel-level sending unit. When I called the knuckleheads at my local dealership to find out if I could make this tank work on my bike, they didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. Does anybody out there know if or how I can make this tank work with my bike? To clarify, on my bike the fuel pickup unit hangs down from the top plate into the left side of the tank and the fuel-level sending unit is attached to a bracket in the center of the tank and hangs in the right side of the tank. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
