Seriously, how does this happen? I wouldn't even date someone that didn't ride. How could you go for 13 years and have never taken her for a ride? i"m really not being a dick here.. did she just like doing something else while you were out riding? Not that it's any of my business, i'm just interested... and apparently you're not the only one. Congrats on the 13 years though.. these days that's a long term marriage.
I had a very enjoyable ride today with my wife of 13 years. I have been riding for several years, but my wife decided today that she would go along with me for her very first ride. We had a great ride in the country and then stopped in a small town for lunch and to visit some of the shops along the main street.
Upon returning home I asked if this was something she would like to do again. She replied yes I loved it, but I want my own helmet. I think I may be poorer with my new riding companion, but it will sure be worth it.
It sure will be worth it. I met my wife 40 years ago and she told me that the thing that first caught her attention was the helmet I was carrying. After almost 38 years of marriage she is still my favorite back seater. Bought the Electra Glide Classic to give her more room for stuff found along our travels.
Mine rides with me sometimes- fair weather rider but she really enjoys it when she's out. Recently she got new leather and a boots and her ride time has going up to hours at a time versus a quick ride in the hood. It is way more enjoyable being out together!
My wife isn't into riding. She does let me have my fun, though. Just as much as I would enjoy her company, it's good not to have to worry about us both getting taken out by another distracted driver.
just give it some time she will want her own bike. my wife has never really rode with me she has always had her own bike and I think its great. I have no one I would rather have as a riding partner then her. plus it the one thing that both of us like to do. nothing like just getting up and spending time with the wife when we work long hours and don't get to spend much time together
I took my girl for her first ride up rt31 in Vermont. Along the Connecticut River checking out the Covered Bridges. She said it was the most beautifull experience in her life and made her eyes tear with shear joy.

This is a legit question. I believe that part of the problem is something CW04 mentioned. My wife was aware that this can be dangerous eventhough she knows that I am a careful rider and that if we were both taken out we would leave our 10 year old without both parents. I think that she also did not realize how much fun it can be spending some quality time together riding out in the country and discovering new places to eat and look around. She seemed surprised that she had so much fun as we are already discussing our next adventure together.
While riding is one of my most favorite things to do, shopping is my wife's. Now that we are going to start this journey of riding together, she is probably thinking that she can combine my favorite activity with her's. That is kind of scary, but I am ok with it. I think
