My S/O is only 112 lbs so that is not a factor. But I may go crazy if I caused her any harm. So I go a bit slower when she is on board and do not take risk that I would think nothing of by myself. But I have an AMA 1 million mile award and about 1/4 of that is with someone on the back. Half of it was work releated at the tune to 10,000 ,miles or more a month. The good news the rest of it was having just having fun.
We've been riding 2 up for over 27 years now, so I don't really pay it much attention. I usually know if I've pushed the limit a bit, as my ribs will be sore. When my wife first got her trike, I really missed having her behind me.
I ride 2-up most of the time. I thing its just as safe if not more because I dont haul *** in the curves as much. Only difference is the bike will not respond as fast to emergencies.
Yup, I ride more conservatively with the wife on board. I tone down any agressive riding such as hitting curves a little fast, or passing with close tolerances. (She hates it when I pass on two lane roads, car or bike). I figure since an extra whatever she weighs is on the bike, suspension and braking aren't what they are solo.[8D]
