Would love to go to both but can't afford both. I've been to Daytona but not thunder beach. Thunder beach is another 3.5 hours. Only going for the weekend.
Which one is better? I need to decide which one to go to.
Been to both. I prefer Thunder Beach, been 4 times. You can still find businesses around Panama City that don't try to gouge your eyes out for every penny you spend. Last fall we went and stayed in a 2 bedroom condo for $117/night with an extra night for free. Beer is affordable and some places even have good specials running. The cops do not mess with you unless you truly deserve it. Panama City Beach wants you to visit, and visit again, and it shows.
If you've already been to Daytona, then go to Thunder Beach. The riding at TB beats Daytona by a long shot, and the merchants go out of their way to attract bikers without fleecing them.
Hotels and food are plentiful and affordable. The hotels in Daytona have lost their mind with they amount the charge.
By far my favorite thing to eat while there. There was a place called Buckaloo's on the east end of the beach that is now closed. Fall rally 2011 I ate about 5 dozen oysters there and paid for one(might be part of the reason they are closed.) The BEST oysters I have ever had. Ordered a dozen and the guy shucking across the bar from me just kept putting more on my tray. Needless to say, he got a great tip. Wish I was going this year.
