Man I just got hooked up with a new GPS system called fin (find it now)
I tried it out over the weekend and it really works. I went out for a ride with my buddy and we decided to have a quick breakfast before a long ride. Halfway through my huevos rancheros I got an alert that something was happening. I walked outside to find that my fuel line had ruptured and was pouring gas all over my bike. Luckily it hadn't gotten hot enough yet to catch fire and thanks to the fin system I was able to salvage some of the gas and replace the fuel line before any further damage occurred.
I guess these things are pretty sensitive and this is definitely not what I had in mind when purchasing it. What a bonus though!
I may be a bit paranoid after having my bike stolen twice but I now have piece of mind when it's out of my sight.
I'm certainly not a sales man or rep of any company but these things are available from member Brukus.
Thanks big Brukus for some much needed relaxation. It was getting to the point of not wanting to ride anywhere where it would be out of direct sight.
So your GPS system told you that your bike was leaking gas? Am I missing something? So it locates your bike when its stolen but how does it know its leaking gas?
My guess is the movement when the line burst is what sent the alert. They are sensitive to movement which is also good if someone even tries to steal something off of the bike without stealing the whole bike.
I am going to contact Ray at FIN and make sure he agrees with my assumption.
Very thankful that you had the FIN on and were able to avert anything worse happening.
No it didn't know about the gas leak. What it did do was detect movement. At first I thought maybe somebody had cut the fuel line so I would leave the bike to get a replacement. (Told you I was a little paranoid about it) but saw that the line was old and crumbling.
Whether or not the rupture shook the bike enough to send an alert I do t know for sure. But I got a text with a movement alert. It was the first time I rode it after installation of the fin system.
