Buddy and I are gonna try it tomorrow. Only a hundred couple miles from where I live so surprised we never heard of it but there are so many awesome rides around here. Found out about it while at Fox Creek leathers the other day looking through a binder of area rides. Have done the Dragon, Back of the Dragon and so many more awesome rides we always have a blast. So curious if anybody has been there and if so what they thought.
We generally leave from Charlotte NC area go through Lincolnton, Marion then up 226 to 226A then eat lunch at Little Switzerland just off the Parkway and go South on the Parkway to 80 take it back to Marion then back track to Charlotte NC area. 80 I think is the Devils Whip.
It was okay, really super twisty and when opportunity presented itself to glance at the GPS (not often) it looked like a jigsaw puzzle. Too far of a trip to ride such a short bit of fun, maybe 10 miles at best.
About halfway through ran into a couple GW trikes slowing things down to a snails pace. Managed to take a chance in a double back curve and was able to pass them. Buddy and I stopped at the end at a gas station and filled up. $4.30 a friggin gallon!!! Anyway 5 minutes later the trikes come by, stop and ask directions. They would not have wanted the directions I would have given them. I hate trikes....
Only other vehicle that was in front of us, a cage, had the decency to pull over to let us go by.
Anyway here is a link to the place in case anyone is interested.
You should have said you hate GoldWings. A TriGlide can just about out corner any other Harley, no leaning involved and it hugs the road. Just check out the Tri-Glide section for posts on cornering.
Ride up around Hanging Rock park and Danbury. Elevation changes and one twisty after another.
Its okay. Just a nice little section of twisties on 89 that have scraped my floorboards on plenty of times. Since you are local you should try route 8 out of Stuart Va up to the BRP. The last 3 miles before the parkway are a ton of fun. At the top is Tuggles Gap restaurant` and they have an awesome chocolate pie.
