I've been on HD's website "building" the different models that I'm interested in. When I built my Heritage and got to the windshields, is it worth the extra 400+ for the vented/tinted version. Does it make that much of a difference with the vent in the middle? I understand the concept but is it that bad riding with a stock windshield? Opinions will vary, just looking for your thoughts on them.
I look over the top of the windshield . I order so my eyes are an inch or two above. I do get dark tint but that is just for looks. My st glide I did get the flare ,seems to send wind over my helmet.
I don't know I'll tell you this though I just bought a heritage and last night it started raining after I left work. Only thing wet after my 20 minute ride were my boots. So I don't know that its worth $400+

I've been kicking this around for a while, and i think I'm gonna get one. I've got a Heritage Classic, and the stock windshield does cause some buffeting, most notably coming upwards toward your head. My beard is usually pushed up to my nose, lol. If my beard were longer, the buffeting would cause it to cover my friggin eyes.
If someone has one on their Heritage, i would love to hear some feedback as well, cause $400+ is a bit pricey...
There are many other aftermarket options with the flare, vents, etc. Take a look at Klock Werks, Long Ride Shields, Clearview and others for size options, tints, etc. and probably at a better price point.
It all depends on how you sit on the bike, your height, etc.

No kidding. IMO you would have to be a fool to spend $400 with the other options out there. Before putting a fairing on my Road King I had a dark tint LRS shield and loved it. Excellent, especially in the rain keeping water from coming over into the inside of the shield.
Short answer: yes. I bought a Windvest at Sturgis 2 years ago, and it cut the turbulence significantly. They installed it for free while I waited; the W/S itself was $160. Best $$ I've ever spent ...

Would you mind providing a link, cause i haven't found the dozens of aftermarket options for a wind splitter vented windshield for a Heritage that you say exist....

Doesn't a Heritage Softail Classic (FLSTC) still come equipped with an OEM windshield?
If so, and if your dealer won't give you a credit for the OEM windshield, just order the optional windshield and then sell the OEM to recoup some of the cost.

Just a thought here, but do the dealers have "loaner" slotted windshields for Heritage's?
That windshield list's for $ 429.95 (+tax) and that's a lot of money to put out if you're not sure if you're going to like the product.
You may want to shop around to see if any dealers will give you a discount.
I've owned 2 Heritages and so has my wife and the chrome fork wind deflectors do a pretty good job.
