I have a new 2014 Street Glide and I'm switching the pipes to Rhinehart true duals with a Screaming Eagle breather. I'm hearing conflicting information on whether or not I need to have the computer mapped to accommodate the change in airflow vs fuel mixture.
Does anyone have any useful information on how I should proceed?
I DO NOT want to do anything other than a basic upgrade. Just looking to make the bike breathe and sound better.
You've basically got three choices, add a tuner, Xids, or a stage one flash. Once you open up the breathing you'll run very lean without doing one of those.
I actually opened this to see what a haspeegle was. Still don't know, but anyway...
You do need to do something for fuel management since you opened up the pipes and intake. Like mentioned above, there are different ways to go. Do some searching on here and you'll find about a million posts on the subject. Lots of opinions and experiences, so do a little homework and see what makes sense to you.
From experience: I did pipes and a breather with the download and it was fine for a few years, then it started to pop a little more than I liked as the baffles broke in. I put a PCV in recently and she's running smoother than ever now.

I would go with the FL-XIED-10 from nightrider.com If you are doing just basic upgrade, those should be all you need.

+1 on that - love my XIED's and the bike runs GREAT - although I did the stage 1 download with my SE ventilator, "just to be sure" there would be no warranty issues. Why? Because every damned thing the MoCo puts out about their higher flow air cleaners says you need the download. I figure that's their trump card to deny a claim if I didn't get it and something happened. So I spent the $150 for my peace of mind. Some on here will surely say I wasted it....oh well, it was my money.
I would go with the Xied's as well. With just a download/flash you are going to almost be guaranteed some decel popping. If you can live with it no big deal, for me it bugged the crap out of me and I ended up with a SERT. Granted mine is a 2012 but I am willing to bet you will experience the same outcome. Anyway, enjoy your new ride.
