I'm gonna start hanging a bag of ice on my ac in the spring so I can get the effect longer as the weather starts heating back up.
Man that will never work. What you need is a 72 qt cooler with a big block of ice. Drill a hole in one side of it and bolt it up to the air cleaner base. Then drill another hole on the other side for the air cleaner cover. Might stick out some, but you'll get used to it. Man what power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, I'm in agreement with everyone else...cooler denser air will make more power. I notice it, especially in cool dry air my bike runs noticeably better than it does when it's 95 & humid as hell.
Just another reason fall is the best riding season here.
The cooler air does help your bike run better and gives you a slight increase in power. This is why people put nitrous on their vehicles because the nitrous cools off the air going into the engine which give you more power.
that is not 100% correct, it does cool the charge, but the main power increase comes from the fact that nitrous is an oxidizer(sp?)… more available oxygen=more fuel can be burned=more power.
Same theory applies to the cold weather, cold air is denser which means it has a higher oxygen content per unit of volume (assuming altitude stays the same) which=more power.
I remember back in the day I had a 80 camaro with a holley 750dp carb… that thing was so finicky I had to retune depending on what time of day it was. Hot and humid summer day->cool (not as humid) summer night really screwed with that thing.
EDIT: for more info read up on the Density Altitude calculation (DA). takes into account the atmospheric conditions that affect internal combustion engines.

I definitely notice this too in both my bikes. But, I have never noticed a difference in my car or truck. Any theories on this??
I'm thinking because your car is liquid cooled and runs at the same temp all the time. Most Harleys are air cooled so outside temps determine how hot or cool your bike runs. JMO

I notice it in my Mustang, but it has been retuned and has a Cold Air Kit, so when the temp drops into the 50's in 60's in South Florida, I notice a difference from when it's in the 80's and 90's. The car is just more responsive.
