We were fine on the VTX and there's not a big difference in the wheel base but when I look at the dynas they seem to have a shorter back seat like it doesn't come back as far on the fender.
I'll tell you that I am 6'3 and 240, the wife is 5'11 and about 140 and the dyna was uncomfortable. It was ok as a solo ride but 2 up and we bottomed out on dips and there was no room. I solved the problem by getting her her own bike. At a $5,500 buget that is not an option for you. I would try to fine a nice road king. It may have more miles than a dyna in the same price range but for comfort, you couldn't get much better.

I've spent a little time on my buddies road king and love it. Thanks for the input.
Why did you sell the VTX? Was it too small or you just wanted an HD?
If the VTX was comfortable for you, then a Dyna will be also...similar size and comfort.
Given your budget, size and wanting to ride with your girl, I agree with the posts above. I'd look high and low for a 95 to 98 EVO / 5 speed / Carbed Road King. Replace the ina cam bearing with a torrington B-138 and install a good touring cam like an Andrews EV-13, rejet the carb, tune the ignition and go ride the hell out of it. Later modle EVO's will get down the highway just fine 2 up, they will not have a lot of snot in them past 75, but they can creep up to run 80 to 85 all day and not break up.

Thanks. I just have to be patient till the right deal comes along. There is a 93 Electra glide near me for 5500 but it has 78k on it and the motor hasn't been touched.

If the motor hasn't been touched in 78k miles, then it's probably been taken care of and is a good one & still has a lot of miles left in her. Go check it out & take somebody with you that knows bikes. If it all checks out, I wouldn't be afraid of it. An Evo or Twin Cam can easily go 100,000+ before needing much of anything if it has been taken care of & proper maintenance done.
