Reading lots of posts from those above the Mason Dixon line who are readying their bikes for winter. I feel bad that you have to pack the bikes away for half the year. Luckily we don't have that problem in Florida. That being said the cold front brought in some chilly temps (48°) today. I saw 2 bikes on the road today and one was a crotch rocket. While the ride was chilly at least I got to ride. My sympathies are with those of you who have no choice but to pack the bike up for the season.
I live in Colorado and ride year round. There are A LOT of fair weather riders around here that I've seen. Last Sunday it got up to 70' and the bikes were abundant. The Saturday the day before? 65' hardly any bikes....
I am a ***** so I wear everything Gerbings makes for a bike. If the roads are clear I ride. I like the looks on peoples faces when it is in the teens and I am riding comfortably on my bike. They have no idea I am actually quite cozy and grinning from ear to ear.
Central Illinois here, and the winters can get pretty brutal in this part of the country! It's already snowed here a couple of days ago, just a little, but it's a sign of things to come. The temps can drop to below zero with even lower wind chill factors. I personally wouldn't even think of riding in those conditions, not to mention all the salt they cover the road with can be really messy!
We had snow here yesterday, freezing temps the last two nights. Salt trucks are out, and that means the bike is tucked away in the garage, under its blanket.
Your sympathies are nice, but if you send a plane ticket it would be appreciated more.
