New road at night when my sporty was new to me...surprise 90 degree turn. No time to turn but I did know how my brakes worked, both of them.
Last month. New road again... admiring the golf course and surprise... 90 degree turn. The only road I have seen in this part of Carolina that didn't have a drainage ditch. Rode right through the golf course and back on to the road.
Either one could have ended really bad.
Luckiest thing ever, riding dirt bikes as a kid. Mistakes don't hurt near as bad at 30mph on the dirt.
Biggest mistake- letting my ego decide which bike to get instead of logic. I bought an XL1200. I'm not huge and handling it is still hard on turns. I bought a Suzuki LS40 which is 381lbs and is what I have been using on the streets until I'm ready to ride the Harley all the time.

The dumbest thing i have done is thinking that the gas nozzel on the right is always premium. Some times its diesel. I can tell you that harleys do NOT run on diesel fuel. Only made it onto the road in front of the gas station before it quit. That was embarrasing.

A couple of guys were close and helped be get her back up... and then immediately started laughing...when they saw my Lock cable still around my back wheel. DOH.
