Didn't think there was more than 1 Harley dealer in London.

Dunno about UK law, but here you can't sue unless you were injured. The most you can hope to get is an apology, and maybe a credit for future service (something that ain't dangerous if they screw up) because you hadda pay & get towed.

So... the manager expected the technician to say he forgot to tighten the bolts?

The answer to the question "How do I get your confidence back?"

Is always:

"A new CVO"

of course, they will deny that request, but hell, ya gotta try.

Should have went back to the dealer and gave them a rash of **** and got a bunch of freebies.

**** happens, buy yourself a shovelhead and watch stuff disappear in your mirror on a monthly basis. No need to file a lawsuit you couldn't win.

I write service for a large Toyota dealer, we had a incident like that a while back. A master tech left caliper bolts loose and the caliper shifted and the car lost some braking. The customer had the car towed back and was livid. The manager asked the same thing what can we do to makes this right. Unfortunately for the tech the customer wanted him fired on the spot. A good man lost his job, he had a family and was crushed. It can happen to anybody there are to many distractions in the workplace, stuff happens and even the best can make a mistake we have all done it.

Give the dealer a chance they will make it up to you. If you have been happy with their service in the past go talk with the manager in a calm manner he will make things right.

I'm new year. I need some advice please. I have to put in all the details in so please bear with me.

I had my triple clam and gaiters replaced under warranty at a Harley Davidson dealer. 6 days after it was fixed, coming up to a corner, I wanted to slow down, I used my brakes – but heard a clunk and my front brakes did not work. Thankfully I managed to slow down and stop by slamming harder on my back brakes and dropping gears immediately! I got off the bike and saw that my whole front brakes had fallen off. It was dangling next to my wheel - connected by the tube to by handle bars. I took it to another dealer to be fixed.

I have spoken to the manager of the dealership that fixed it originally. He investigated and the technician is sure he tightened it properly. Nonetheless it still fell off and that is totally unacceptable. The manager asked what did he have to do to gain back my confidence to return to them. I said unfortunately I have lost all confidence and I won't be returning to them. He also mentioned that he will implement extra checks etc so that it will not happen to anyone else. Equipments will also be checked. He also said he will inform the main office to check if this has happened to anyone else.

My question is: Should I be taking any other action with this incident? I was very lucky as I was riding slow in the city. If I had been on the motorway going 70mph I could have been killed. I have sent an email to the UK head office to inform them of this incident so they have a record of this - in case it happens to anyone else.

Thank you
I'd say no further action is needed but hopefully you learned a valuable lesson. ALWAYS check over any work that is done. People are human and make mistakes but it's my azz on the line so I look over everything on the bike if I've had it in for any service. Glad you didn't get hurt.

So, did the triple clam eat the gators or vice versa?
