I think a lot of the rice burners drop there bikes stunting and pull insurance scams on them because they damage so easily. Then they use the insurance money for a down payment on a HD ofcourse.....

outlaw bike gangs do alot of the thieving too. On the road I put a bike cover on it with a drive way alarm bungied to the tank bib. Soon as the cover is pulled off the alarm goes off . you carry the alarm in your jacket or motel rm. I also cable the bike to a colume to slow them dn or hit another bike.

I think on a whole Harley owners tend to park their bikes where they can see them, check on them more often, and most thieves in general would not like to confront the guys who own the harleys in case they happen to show up in mid theft.
Just my two cents.

Can we expect our insurance rates to go down?

According to the full report, apparently if I happen to own one of these - and live in Vermont - I'm golden.

OK. I can see that.

Then again, the mirrors could double as remarkably good satellite radio antennas. Just saying.

lots of stolen rice bikes end up as track day bikes, stunt bikes, or stripped for parts to fix a damaged bike that was uninsured.

my ZRX1200 weighs 520 pounds wet. Luckily it is a bike that is not in demand for parts, same with my ZZR1200. low production bikes that stick out in a crowd.

Bikes are also stolen for parts.... pipes, wheels, extended swing arms, etc.

Criminals are going to take what is easy and what can be sold fast, I would venture to say that there are far more kids or young people riding rockets than adults but when it comes to Harley's it is the other way around more adults than kids, so if confronted two guys have a better chance of survival against the kid than the adult and I think Harley riders don't typically park their bikes too far away from them.
