Three of us had 8 days to spend on PCH last July so we headed South from Oregon on the coast and turned around after 4 days and did most of the same roads Northbound. We stayed in motels but no reservations. We just road 6 to 9 hours a day and stopped when we felt like it.

It's the ride, not always the destination. My bride takes a ton of pics from the back seat. We relive our rides all winter.

Retired,, all the wife and need to do is get on, start her up, leave the house.. the rest is up for grabs.
Lastly, return home 2-4 later.

I do both. Sometimes it may just be the way the bike is pointing others may be I just have to get to where I am going.

For the most part I like to know where I'm going. How I get there is not really a big deal. This year I have a plan to ride across Texas and into New Mexico. I will ride until I'm tired, find a room see the sights of where ever I am. Get up and do it again until I'm ready to come home.

I usually have a destination, once in a while it's just a direction which ends up being East to Indiana. Nice scenery there, they have trees and stuff.
