I bought new because it was my first big bike purchase. Even bought the warrenty. Next time I think I will go used...I saw a perfectly beautiful Deluxe with 300 miles on it I could have boughtwith a substantial discount.

It's a choice you have to make...New will lose you a bit more then use.

I'll tell it you you straight. I agree with jackj. My advice?? Buy a Fat Boy TODAY. New or used, I don't care. Whatever you can afford. Just get it now, ride it now, don't waste the spring and summer by waiting for fall. You will not regret it!! I know 'cause it's my story too.

Perhaps I should mention that I do have a bike. I have the bike I bought to learn on. It is a Honda Rebel 250. So I will be riding this season one way or the other even if it is not a Harley yet......

Buy within your finacial means,, so you wont be strapped down to making payments instead of weekend getaways!
If,, your 1st is cheap and used, ride it a year or so,,, But do not upgrade nothing ,,then trade!! that that way you wont loose much money,
by that time you will have the answers to all your questions!

If you can swing new,, get what you want the first time,,, see if ya cant test ride some somewhweres

I thought the guy who said you weren't ready was harsh - until you posted this! Find yourself a used metric cruiser and ride the wheels off it - then you'll be ready for a Harley.

Knowing full well that each shopper/buyer has different tolerances regarding how much and how long they will shop before buying. Due to the fact that you and I appear to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, I don't know how much I can help, except to say that I'm sure you can find a very good, slightly used bike and save a considerable amount of money. What I mean by you and I being on the opposite ends of the spectrum is that you seem to be MUCH more patient than me. When I want something and I know I can afford it, I go buy it.....fast! I feel that if I spend a little too much money, so what. I got what I wanted. Times a tickin'!! Good luck with your purchase; I'm sure you'll be happy once you straddle your new H-D.

I'm new to motorcycles too. I found a 6 year old Road Glide with only 2000 miles on it for $12K. So there are great deals out there.

Thats a pretty heavy bike but then all Harleys are pretty heavy.... So how did the weight feel at first? I am getting really comfortable on the Rebel but it weighs less than 350lbs so I don't know how it will feel when I try a big bike........
