In Texas, if you have passenger pegs, you're required to have a strap or grab rails. Ihave a riding buddy with atricked out '94VFR who failed an inspection because of this. So he takes the bike to another dealer down the street and they pass him with no questions asked. Go figure.
It's not really like the mattress tag that only the owner can take off. In at least 10 states it's required by law and inspected during their state inspections. Just thought you might want to know.
I installed a Badlander on my Softail Standard and left the strap off. The problem that I am having is the seat will move side to side. It's in the front slot and bolt is in the back. It's like the middle of the seat is flexing.
The first thing I did after removing my reflectors is remove the seat strap.
Ditto here. On the Night Train at least, it is worse than useless. The strap is just a piece of vinyl with a hole at each end and a bolt passing through it... no eylets or anything - just the bolt through the punched holes.
IMO any passenger using that as the sole means of support is a fatality waiting to happen.
