Default Enclosed Utility Trailers

Looking for brand opinions from owners of these style enclosed trailers.

Specifically, looking for comments on a 5x8 model/fold down rear ramp and a side door.
It would double as a camping unit also.

Las Vegas LOOK trailer dealer is offering me a good trade in price for a 2002 Carson open utility....I am almost ready to drop the hammer.

"V" nose or flat...pros or cons?...

Been looking at trailers also and getting alot of opinions. Seems the most common is get a tandem axle if you can afford it. If one tire blows out, still got one left on that side to get pulled over.

Also, get bigger than you think you need. 5X8 is pretty small. Be surprised at the number of uses you come up with once you have it. Not to mention all the friends you'll have.

6x12 is about minimum size, v-nose. 5x8 you really have no room to tie the bike down...

Thanks......
I have a 5x8 open utility trailer now that I use....lots of room for ratchet straps, front and rear, running to the side steel bracing.

Thanks.....I am restricted to a smaller unit due to storage space and my tow vehicle is a smaller SUV with a 6 cyl engine.

I was looking for a 5x8 this past fall and once I started looking around I went with a 7x10 soft v. The cost difference between the two is only a few hundred dollars and the extra space is worth it and then some.

I see you have concerns with the weight but I have towed mine with the wife's Hyundai Santa Fe.

I have an MTI and have been very happy with it. I agree with the others and get one as big as you can pull. These trailers are useful for more than just hauling bikes.

A 5x8 tips out at 900+ lbs and a 6x10 at 1000# unladen weight.
With a 700 lb scooter plus gear......puts the total load at or near 2000 lbs.

My Ford Escape is rated to 3500# towing.
I am sure it would pull it fine with the higher weights.....
I sweat stopping it more than pulling it.

Now you just jacked up my purchase costs!! Thanks a bunch pal, ole buddy!!

Open trailer, where you can stand off the trailer to tie down is a LOT different than trying to work inside a box the same size :-) get as big of trailer as you can afford, you'll be VERY glad you did!
