Quaker City is where all the major manufacturers get their stuff chromed. Hard to believe, but people from out of state actually send their parts to CA to be chromed.

I have lots of experience with MECLEC. They do a great job and they are also one of the only Platers that still plate Hexalavent. Everyone else seems to now use Trilavent. I was surprised when even Browns converted. Trilavent does not compare to a Hexalavent plated part IMHO....It costs me a small fortune to send parts from Vermont to CA, but it makes that much of a difference ....Hexalavent at MECLEC.

This can give you excellent work, as the people are talented, experienced, hard working and pretty inexpensive. Keeps the environmental issues in Mexico, but still allows you to deal with a USA company.

Now much of that poluted air and water just flows right back to the US, but that seems to be a system that the government allows.

All of our work is done right here in Southern California, and in compliance with state and federal regulation. I do not know of any reliable custom plating shops near us that send their work to Mexico, doesn't mean it's not happening but it certainly does not warrant the term "many" like you used above. Now if you're talking production plating shops....then yes, I know of several that have moved their entire plating operation to Mexico, while keeping their business anchored in the USA. I'm afraid you will find this trend in almost any large & heavily regulated industry.

Quaker City Plating is one of the finest plating shops in the world.
But they are not a custom plating shop. They are a production facility that only does work on brand new, pre-polished material for large companies like Performance Machine. I believe PM is one of their smaller accounts too. QCP is very heavily involved in the aerospace and defense industry. Great operation, they have grown over the years into an entire city block of different buildings.
If I'm not mistaken, one of their shops is in an old church... pretty cool place.
