The increasing number of the after WWII baby boomers that are approaching retirement age may have something to do with the rise in the number of baggers being sold. The kids are grown and out the door, the house is paid for and if they have been fortunate enough to save up for retirement they can now buy the big bike that they have always wanted and tour the country. I would expect the sales of baggers to climb for the next6 to7 years. After that the sales will slow and the sales of other types of bikes will increase.

Good point Arcane,
Add to that equation the fact that the Baby Boomers parents (savers that lived threw the Deprecion) are leaving their children sizable estates, and the fact that the Baby Boomers are spenders and not savers like thier parents, and you have recipe for increased Harley Davidson bagger sales.
I think HD will also sell a pile of trikes as they become available to the same crowd.
I'm 48, my parents are 79, they wouldn't dream of buying a bike or a trike. When I'm 79 (if I make it) the bike or possibly the trike ifI can't handle a bike, will be very high on my list.

I love my Heritage, it's the bike I've always wanted.

If I ever find a mattress stuffed with cash I'd add a SG to my stable. But It would have to be Slammed and Stretched!

I really like the RKC. But I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the fatboy. The guy I bought if from put about everything you could put on except bags. Thats right, first thing I put on the fatty were bags. I ride almost everyday I can, so I need the room for all my riding gear.

Everybodys got to have a place to put their "stuff." I know that is true because I heard George Carlin do a routine about our "stuff."

I've got the best of both worlds...a Fat Boy with HD hard saddlebags on it. (Resisted 'trunk' idea...good sissy bar bag is in the near future though...) Gotta admit, I darned near bought a Street Glide though. Probably my next ride. (pretty sad...only had the Fatty in the garage only two days, and I'm already planning for the NEXT one...LOL!)

Baggers are great, have putbags on the WG, have gone from a Heritage to a Road King. Dealers has plenty available here. A model difficult to find, with buyers typically on waiting lists, that hot bikes are hot bikes, is this thing...
