Info I have says it was introduced in 1954, but I have no sales figures for it that year. In 1955 they made/sold 77 of them. It's a scrambles and trials bike.

Got any pics?

Well,I don't remember a KHRM model but i can tell you from the personal experiance of owning a k model that the "H" version was the 900cc verses the "K" being the 750. Back in the early 90's I was lucky enough to buy one of the last bikes Freddie Nix (factory H-D race team)owned and raced. It was a KHR and from what I could find they was only about 200 of them build during the entire production run though theyears. It was a work of art on the inside with everything on roller bearings including the camsect. Problem was engine life was measured in minutes not miles. Very fragile but impressive none the less. In 1969 Freddie was still winning races on aridged framed KRbeating modern bikes with it.

Hey, thanks for that info. I'm up here in Flint and had the opprotunity to talk and visit with the Legend Bart Markel. This area had many Champions. Anyway, he lost most of his spares in a garage fire. I looked over all his cams and they were junk, but yes they were on 3/8 I.D. spindles for the ball bearings. Bart worked as a toolmaker at AC Spark Plug. I also am a toolmaker and worked there also. My father had purchased this bike @ 1963 it was wrecked in the front and he was only going to use it to ice race. And did for many years. I just want it to be correct and the engine and title say 55KHR in small caps and M in a bigger capital then the serial. When he got it it had the 56 style air cleaner and rear tail light. Altough, it was chromed and could have been replaced at that time. Where would I find production numbers? Also if they were 45 or 55" I think the AMA classes only allowed up to 750cc even in the tt's. Again thanks for the info and if you should have anything esle please forward it to me. Thanks, Judge

Hey Skip, that was my dad's nick too! Anyway, thanks for the info. I was going to get with you because of some other posts from you. Where in the heck can I get production numbers? I answered another reply first and won't repeat everything but I still have no real solid info to restore this bike. I have all the parts. The frame is stamped with a 4 and it has a 45" motor, the neck is a 52A which indicates that it is an early frame. Also I would like to know about the 45-55 racing classes, Is that Good info? Thanks, would like any other info. or directions to get it! Judge

The guy who seems to have more info on old HDs than almost anybody is Herbert Wagner. He has more accurate info than even the HD official historian. Whether he'll have some on this, I don't know. But he'd be worth a try.

Here's a web addy that might have info on how to contact him: http://www.atthecreation.com/

Another guy that might be of help would be Dale ? of the Motorcycles Thru Time museum in Maggie Valley, NC. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/

WishI could be more help.

I blew a deal on a '55 or '56 K model back in 1974. Guy said he'd sell it, andI jumped on it. Guess I jumped too hard 'cause he decided to keep it and fix it up. I ended giving him a Sporty gas tank and a front fender so he could get it on the road.
