And you posted this why??? Does it really matter? Ride with who you want, go where you want, and quit being such a woman where you need a group's opinion on what you need to do. Grow a set.
cldriver has a set, he was just making conversation. As For me two is company, three is OK and four is plumb out of the question.
Largest group ride I've been on to date, was a PGR mission with about 70 bikes and a few cages. Kind of cool looking in the mirror, or ahead, (I was pretty much in the middle), and seeing all those bikes. And it was a good ride at road speeds. Wouldn't have been much fun if it had been in parade mode at 20 miles per hour.
Usually, group rides I participate in are much smaller. I usually keep my head on a swivel until I get comfortable with everyone's capability, taking note of those that follow the safety rules, and those that don't.
I like going on the escorted veteran rides where everything is run in an orderly fashion like a parade. But on poker runs and the such, my buds & I usually will attempt to put in some space from the pack.
I dont mind as long as its a group that I like to ride with. If by group ride you mean poker runs, charity rides, the 2 million bikers ride,,.. no thanks. I'll watch from an over pass nd meet you at the end
90% of my rides are either solo or with my wife on her own bike. There are a few friends we ride with occasionally, rarely more than 5 in the group. We do a couple charity rides a year, but other than those, we avoid big group rides.
I got a couple friends who always go on them & I always turn them down...I like to ride at my own speed, stop & go when & where I want. I've even gone on vacations or Daytona by myself. Even went to England once by myself. That way, I ain't gotta rush or lag for anyone.

I prefer solo riding myself too. Riding with a friend or 2 every so often is ok, but no more than that. My 2 favorite hobbies, riding and fishing/boating, are my way of getting away from people and spending time with my wife.
Riding in high speed dog packs is a young mans game. It's a real adrenalin rush as well as extremely dangerous.
I rode in the Sturgis, MI toy run for 15 years in a row even though it grew to be fairly dangerous. Rolling though those little towns, people lining the streets to gawk slapping the kids hands and the OL throwing candy off the back... it's a great time!
Since I've been in FL, I went on the Abate toy run a couple of times. It's too boring. I just sleep in and go to the end point, donate a toy and wander around to look at the bikes.
