What am I looking at to pay for fulll coverageinsurance on a new Heritage?
Driving record is clean, very clean.
Male, late 40's.
Checked with my car insurer (American Family I think) was quoted around $500 for one policy
and close to $900 to double or triple, medical coverage, these prices were per year.
Thought that was a decent price, either way, but talking with a cuple guys at work say I can get
for a couple hundred a year at most!
So, whats the group here say?
Thanks!!
The only relevant answer from anyone will be ifthat personlives inthe same Zip Code as you and is the same age with the same credit rating with the exact same coverage and has the exact same bike as you do. The cost of insurance given by anybody else is worthless info.

Geico, $285/year for full coverage. Next highest quote was Progressive at $525.
It might help that I live in MN and they figure I only drive 6 months a year.

Telling me how low your rates are doesn't mean diddly squat. What is important to know is what your coverages are. Do you want to ride with $10,000.00 property damage liability coverage? If you totaled out my Miata you'd be in the hole. Do you want to ride with $25,000.00 Bodily injury coverage. If you killed me you would lose your house and everything you owned. Do you want $10,000.00 medical coverage. That might cover you one or perhaps two days in the hosptial.

As previously stated, the important thing is the "amount" of coverage you have.
Not so in Texas and I'm sure many other states. In Texas your home and your retierment can not be subject to loss in litigation. If you own a Business and you are not incorporated then you could lose it.

I have State Farm, and they have always provided good rates...

I just called to get coverage on the Road King and was quoted $360 a year. That was adding some additional $$$'s to up my medical coverage for un/under insured motorist.

Be lucky you are not asking the same question on a sporkbike forum. There were several guys that were tossing-out rates of $5-6 K a few years back on the Yamaha R1 forum.
You have a decked out Road King withuninsured/underinsured coverage for $360 a year? I've been with State Farm for 30 years, and received a quote for over $500 a year for the state minimum of 10/10. Getting underinsured/uninsured coverage tacked on DOUBLES the premium. State Farm told me they do not like writing motorcycle insurance, so I went to Progressive. I have 2 tickets in the last 25 years, and a FICO score of 799. The S. Florida zip code is probably what's killing me on premiums. The roadsdown here arejammed with undocumented/uninsured motorists.

A biggie that got me is when they asked me if I was married. I said no and they jacked my insurance up. Lie and tell them that you're married if you're not.

A tip for those of you that live in the cold climates and might not be aware of. When winter comes, and you're putting the bike away for the season, call your agent and tell them you want to cancel all the coverages on your bike except for comprehensive (theft, fire, etc). After all you won't be having a collision while it's parked and you won't be damaging my car or me while it's parked so the only exposure the bike will have is fire and theft, This will save you quite a few premium dollars. In spring time call the agent back and put the coverages back on.

The only down side to this is when you get that unusual warm day or two in the middle of winter and you just want to take it around the block. Don't do it. You're not covered.

Let me preach about insurance. After all, I was hit by a car and then hit a second stopped car and then flew over 25 feet through the air landing on the pavement feb 24 . The butthead who pulled out of a parking lot and nailed me had the so called cheap insurance "Direct" Not progressive direct, just direct. Her policy was 15/25/10 15k for injury per person, up to a max of 25k per wreck and 10k property damage, regardless of the vheicles involved 1 or 100.

Now my 95 Ultra is not worth as much as some bikes on the forum but I liked it. My estimate for repair was $7,500 to fix. Add in my personal belongings either broken or cut off by damn paramedics. Helmet. Leather jacket, eyeglasses broken, carhart bib overalls for weather and my riding boots. That adds another 1300, so I got 8500 claim by myself. Car i hit was an 06 accord and I took the front end and hood pretty much to the trash with me. So she's got probably 4k damages so we're at 12,5oo but she's only got 10k coverage. Sue her...well she lives in the project and her raggedy assed car is all she had. My medical from cat scans to MRI to Er and all is north of 20k now. Guess who the bills come to? right ,,me

Called my insurer, state farm. They sent adjuster the next day after I called, he called that afternoon and asked what I wanted to do. He sent a check for the repairs plus my deductible (covered under the uninsured/underinsured part of my policy. I got it the next day and they are goijng after her insurance company. How can you beat that?

I carry well over 10 times the minimum and pay about 700 per year. Had a great driving record and get multi discount. But for me, the piece of mind of knowing I am protected for 99% of the accidents that might happen is worth the couple of hundred of extra dollars I might spend over a cut rate company or policy. ANd the customer service makes up for some of the extra cost. My agent calls every few days to see if I'm ok and even sent flowers to my house. Would the socalled cheapest companies do that? I don't think so.

Look at your coverage and ask yourself if you are protecting your family and assets to save a few bucks? I am.......are you?

And no I don't work for an insurance company nor does my wife. I'm on the mend and doing well. Bike is being repaired

Thanks for reading
Bubba
