Default Looking for input on new purchase

Hi all,

I have been riding Japanese street bikes for 25-30 years and I'm ready to pull the trigger on my first HD. I dont want to dump 20,000 plus dollars into my first one so I'm looking at a few used bikes at my local HD dealer.

They do offer an extended warranty on all of their bikes, so I will be looking into that as well.
I want to hear some input on the two models I'm looking at . I dont want to purchase one , just to hear someone tell me later that the year model that I bought had a over heating problem, a oil leaking problem or motor mount redesign and that I should have bought the next year model because the problems were fixed the following year.

I'm listing the mileage as well in case there are concerns that I should be aware of. A buddy that has a clasic , told me dont buy a HD that has high miles which he says is 35000 or more. He said it would be in the shop more than its going to be on the road.

07 FLHTCU - Ultra Classic Electra Glide 49,000 miles . PACIFIC BLUE
asking 14,000
96-cubic-inch V-Twin
Vented fairing lowers
Cruise control.
CB intercom. A Harman/KardonŽ Advanced Audio System
Redesigned two-position King Tour-Pak

09 FLHX - Street Glide 29,000 miles CRIMSON RED
asking 16,000
smoked mini-wind deflector
Tri-line LED lighting at the bottom of the rear fender for a low, lean profile
A traditional “bat wing” fairing holds a 40-watt Advanced Audio System by Harman/Kardon
A stretched, chrome fuel tank console and Streamliner footboards, brake pedal and passenger pegs finish the custom treatment
A new low-mount license bracket locates the plate below the tail lamp, with new LED illumination

I'd buy the 09 but wouldn't pay what they are asking...

A buddy of mine is selling an 08 flhx asking 16000 with 5700 or 7500 miles not sure if he sold it yet or not. I thought he was priced kinda high seeing as the dealer priced me a new 13 flhx at 18000. out the door.

I'd check into the new 2013 models, you'll end up with a better deal.

Where was this said dealer...I'm going there to get this bike...

Are you sure it was $18K OTD, or $18K & then all the dealer adds...??

For OP...go with 09 or newer bike

I think you get poor value used at the dealer. Private sale with low miles has little risk. You don't say where you are in Alabama. I agree with the 09 and newer too. Check this out near Birmingham. Much better than either you looked at
