Just bought a 99' Electra Glide, only got one key. It has a 4 digit code on it, is that a code for how it's cut and I can just order another one or do I need to go to a dealer.
I just got a spare cut at the dealer, they had to order it and it took a week. Actually I got 2 keys when I went to pick it up. Yes you need the code. I think some locksmiths can do it if they have the blanks, but I wasn't sure so had it done at HD. Cost about $25 I think.
My scoot uses traditional keys, I ordered 2 blanks and the local hardware store cut them free.
Went to the local dealer with the key , they need to see original (proves you're in possession of the key and bike) and order by the key code.
I got extra key's when I ordered a keyed lock for my Tour-Pac just looked online it's $23.00 dollars, you'll get two keys and the lock (that's what I got). Not sure if it makes sense to do that, but I was happily surprised that it came with two keys I just thought it was keyed to the bike.
