I've been riding since 1961 and have never rode with a vest. I made my first "Ride" to Sturgis in 1990 for 50th celebration. I saw more newbies wearing vest than anywhere else I'd ridden. I'm sorry to say but I think a lot of it is "Monkey See Monkey Do" and the new riders feel it is a needed item so that they fit in. My wife purchased me a very nice vest about two years ago, it's one with the inside gun carry pockets. I tried it on with my Kahr 40 in the gun pocket and it fit well. I have yet to wear it for a ride. Later Fairshake

Do to skin cancer I wear a long sleeve t and a lil joe canves vest. If you see my location you see why I wear this combo all year long. Why this vest? It carries my weapon, camera, cellphone, and anything else I need to get to quickly. This is my fourth vest, the other three have patches from a lifestyle long ago.
