Default Windshield Height ?

Been reading some windshield posts and most set the height below eye level/looking over the shield. I'm a shorty (5'2" on a good day!). Windshield on my FB is probably head-level, I'm looking thru it, not over. Main reason for the shield was neck fatigue and the wife catching a lot of wind. With me so short she's head and shoulders above me and I'm not blocking much. Curious as to what is considered the "proper" height and why?

"Proper Height" is to each their own.

Hey Steve.

It's all personal choice. Some like looking through the windshield and some (like me) prefer to look over the top. What ever your more comfortable with.

Ya I know I'm not much help.

You're in a unique situation where "typical" heights won't work. Typically, a passenger doesn't sit much higher than the rider. In this case, you would size yourself to look over the shield. The top, with ours should be level with between the tip of our nose and mouth. In most cases, sizing it to you this way is just fine for your passenger as well. The wind goes up and over your head and theirs. However, if she is sitting that much higher than you, sizing it to you will cause the stream of air to go over your head and hit her directly in hers. She will hate it. I think due to your situation of her sitting up so much higher than you, there is nothing you can really do but look through the shield if you intend on keeping her a happy passenger. Getting a re-curve will help and you may be able to go lower. In this case, I'd size it to her and not you. Hope this helps.

I believe the top of it is supposed to be level with the bridge of your nose. Good place to start I suppose but I wouldn't call it a rule.

Sounds like making her the rider and you the passenger would solve the problem.

Windshields, some folks love em, some hate em. I have one and hate it. It's now a dust collector...
