A girl in the last school I was in only had a bike, so she had to use it to go everywhere. She would ride around town with a pair of Tai Chi swords slung over her back. She got a lot of looks!
I met one of them people once. I went to the Harley dealer to get some gaskets and oil filter and formula +. there was a dude in his riding boots, chaps, even had his doo rag on his head. He walked past me and said "you rode here?" it was raining so he drove the truck to the dealer to hang out. Bet he had his helmet in the truck too.
I guess you USED to meet the nicest people on a Honda. Maybe this idjit is the reason Honda had to stop using that slogan.
Around here, I see as many GW riders going without a helmet as Harley riders. More of a touring bike thing, the crotch rocket crowd seems to be the group who always seem to be wearing their helmets.
It doesn't really amaze me at the display of people's arrogance and self-importance today. I think it's reflective of what's transpiring in society/media today what with reality tv, facebook/instagram selfies, pompous self-absorbed blogs, etc. Most everyone feels entitled to exhibit bad taste and a lack of decorum and mutual respect to others. I would never think of issuing an unwarranted insult to a stranger, let alone fellow biker. When one open's their mouth to give an unsolicited opinion, especially a derogatory one to a stranger, they must be prepared for the possible consequence of having those words smashed back into their mug with a heavy, stinging humility.
