its gonna take more than 10k to get you into a sporty these days (a 1200 anyways). it is gonna take anywhere from 3-5k more to get into a dyna...
I know what they go for, but it's still nuts. My days of buying new are LONG gone & somebody else can eat the depreciation.
Bought my '02 FXD last Sept w/16K on the clock for $6500. I don't need the latest/greatest/"coolest"/newest & that mondo price difference leaves me a ton of room to make 'er mine.
Yeah, I had a feeling the price was bonkers. The HD Dealer has about 5 Sporsters laying about all over the place and maybe 6 883's. They don't seem to sell well. They move just about every other bike but these. The Dealership is actually pretty popular and the people there are cool. They sell enough of the bigger bikes but the F&P is what kills it for me.
Op, also remember you are buying at the wrong time. Spring is when motorcycle prices and demand is highest. I bought mine in early January when no one was riding and the dealer was struggling to pay the utlity bill.
Someone's smoking crack & thinks it's the '90s. That said, $10K for a Sportster is bonkers.
I agree, with the market on used Harley being so low right now, you could buy yourself a real nice used and not that old big twin. LIKE HE SAID "SMOKING CRACK"
Before giving you an answer, I got curious and did some checking of my own. I checked the Motorcycle Buyer's Guide and they had the 2013 48 at $10,600. Based on that, if you still want a 48, I would suggest doing some checking around first. Granted, not every 48 will be set up the same and final pricing might not be the same but for what you quoted, I'd take a walk and look someplace else.
Yeah you guys are right, it's obviously a pretty bad deal. The Dealers says the prices are pretty "negotiable" but, I don't feel like negotiating with a $1200 F&P with no reach around.
