I am looking for the value of my 2010 Road King Classic. A month agao I talked to a dealer and he looked in the NADA book and said $12,500 and today he tells me $10,100. I looked at NADAs website and I'm getting different numbers than both his numbers. Bike is perfect condition with 607 miles (miles low due to injury).
Also does $400 sound right for DMV fees? Dealer is in PA and I live in NY so he said fees are higher because NY requires addional????? Forgot what he said ecactly for because I was getting irritated and 20 things going thru my mind thinking he's yanking my chain. After going back and forth and him giving me a price he says "Oh Yah... It'll be $400 more because of NYS" blah blah blah.
They probably quoted you what they would give you on trade in. Those numbers change every 3 or 4 months, as well as what time of the year it is. Your bike is getting older, new bike sales are picking up, so they want your bike for nothing. You can go online and get NADA and KBB price guides. You'll notice there prices aren't the same. Depends where you live and how your year model is selling, is a factor on what they offer you. You can bet whatever they give you will be marked up $2500-$3000 so they can bargain when they sell it.,,

Here's a link http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycle...-1584cc/Values after I typed in what I have and I don't see anything about what my trade in value would be..... just high/low retail. Maybe I'm lost with retail/wholesale/trade-in value lol Does it mean what I should get as a trade in value would be the high/low retail price?
If he is getting quotes from a book, those prices haven't been updated since he got the book! Could he be using a book from 19XX? You couldn't possibly know unless he allowed you to check the publish date in that particular book. And, yes, he is most likely using the trade in value...
With the internet available on so many cell phones out there, why would he be quoting from a book anyway? That alone sounds a bit suspicious to me.
